Purchasing Director
Reporting jointly to the VP of Global Purchasing and VP of NA Supply Chain
Management, this Senior Purchasing Leadership Position will be responsible
for all Strategic and Operational Purchasing across the North American
Region and will be the largest of all Regional Purchasing Leadership roles
throughout the company, encompassing approximately $1B of spend across Six
BU’s and Forty Manufacturing Sites, with Twenty Sourcing Professionals as
direct reports. A significant aspect of this position will be the foundation
and process reengineering work that will be necessary to migrate from a
decentralized procurement environment to a Centrally Led procurement
organization that will drive coordination of Sourcing Leverage Initiatives,
Material Procurement and Supplier Management.
Individual will have overall responsibilities for Supplier Management,
Strategic Sourcing, and Material Procurement for all Direct and Indirect
Purchases and External Products, while also being the principal driver of
continuous improvement in Material Cost, Supply Continuity, Supplier
Quality, Raw Material Inventory and Days Payable Outstanding. As a member of
the Global Purchasing Management Team and North America Supply Chain
Management Team, the role will also include significant responsibilities for
Business Controls, KPI Measurement, Purchase to Pay initiatives and
Corporate Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
-
Ideal candidates should have 10 + years of direct or related experience
with Resin and Chemical Purchasing Processes in a $1Billion Petrochemical
Operation with background in Strategic Sourcing of Materials, Products,
Equipment and Services.

Minimum BS in Supply Chain, Business or related Technical Discipline such
as Chemical or Polymer Engineering with MBA or MS preferred.

ISM CPM/CPSM, APICS CSCP, or other related supply chain certifications
desirable.

LEAN and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, methods and
procedures used in World Class Procurement.

Proven experience to influence, collaborate and motivate teams to meet new
demands.

Excellent presentation and written communication skills.

Proven market research skills, financial and business acumen, and mature
judgment with strong problem solving skills
Responsibilities
-
Lead the development, implementation, and alignment of sourcing strategies
and supplier network capabilities for all Materials, Services and
initiatives that compliment and support Functional and Business Unit
Objectives.

Ensure flawless execution of all procurement strategies; including
financial analyses, supplier management, contract management, strategic
sourcing, procurement tools and KPI reporting.

Direct the development and execution of standards, controls, policies,
procedures and performance metrics to effectively manage the performance
and reporting of spend across the business enterprise.

Develop and maintain systematic, analytical and results-based methods for
monitoring supplier’s performance and communicate results to the suppliers
and end users with actionable information to be taken where necessary for
both suppliers and buyers.

Drive standardization of processes and procedures, including transaction
methods with suppliers, supplier selection processes, ongoing supplier
management, data collection, negotiation, performance improvement, cost
reduction and communication strategies.

Lead and engage in reviews with suppliers and stakeholders across the
region with a strong bias toward total cost over the lifecycle of
materials, goods and services.

Lead, motivate, develop and reward the Sourcing Team through a hands-on
leadership style that is highly motivational and disciplined.

Minimize Sole Sourcing of materials and implement appropriate contractual
terms and conditions to mitigate risk while ensuring supply continuity
