Description:
BASIC FUNCTION: Achieve year-on-year improvement in total cost of ownership
quality and service by executing and continually streamlining purchasing
activities across corporation for a collection of commodities. Participate
in the development of sourcing strategies for assigned categories to include
conducting an assessment of current and future customer needs, analysis of
market trends and potential suppliers, analysis of total cost of ownership
and opportunities to leverage changes in processes, systems and products and
services, and estimating the timing and level of savings capture. Lead
supplier selection process, which includes managing the RFQ (Request for
Quote) process, supplier selection process, and negotiation of the final
contract ensuring that the language meets corporate requirements and the
appropriate confidentiality and compliance requirements. Manage
implementation of sourcing strategies which includes activities such as
establishing customer specific implementation timing, identifying
implementation resources and developing communication channels and tools to
introduce new strategy, etc. Implement most effective order fulfillment
processes while minimizing costs. Manage day-to-day interaction with key
suppliers, e.g., routine enhancement to pricing agreement, communication of
demand/volume changes, updating contracts, sharing of end-user feedback,
etc. Monitor ongoing supplier relationship and participate in resolution of
any constraints or issues. This opening is responsible for managing
Facilities and Building Services related supplier relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree, preferably business or related field,
or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 5+ years’
experience in a similar role, e.g., commodity manager, sourcing manager with
responsibilities for sourcing Facilities and Building Services products and
services. Excellent research, analytical, problem solving, and planning and
organization skills required. Proven ability to manage multiple assignments
concurrently, negotiate and independently lead team efforts to achieve
results. Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills as well as
demonstrated written and oral communication skills. High degree of
self-motivation and initiative. Must be comfortable working with ambiguity
and capable of quickly developing an understanding of assigned commodities.
Working knowledge of general computer software (e.g., Word, Excel -
Microsoft Suite applications preferred.)
