Supply Chain Strategist

About the Opportunity:

Plastipak Packaging Inc., a growing international plastic manufacturing company located in the established suburb of Plymouth, MI is seeking a motivated, self-starter to work out of our fast-paced Corporate Headquarters. This Supply Chain Strategist position offers excellent opportunities to join our growing Procurement team. If you possess strong organizational and analytical skills, working knowledge of software including Excel and Word, and are a team player, this is an exciting opportunity for you.

The Responsibilities:

• Develop Strategic procurement plans for U.S. operations
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies, ensuring consistent, high quality supply of material at the lowest total cost
• Lead the commodity teams, comprised of quality, conversion, and other pertinent employees
• Manage high volume commodity spends
• Understand and manage total cost of spend
• Develop and implement inventory management strategies
• Build partnerships with suppliers to create cost savings
• Develop and maintain knowledge-based databases of each key supplier and the industry. This is to include all key cost components, market trends, make vs. buy analysis, as well as financial analysis, and leverage opportunities
• Monitor and measure overall supplier performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Mgt, Engineering, Packaging, or Business
• Masters degree desired
• ISM, or APICS certification preferred
• 5 to 10 years experience in procurement
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to manage work teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to Lead by Example
• Ability to do statistical and financial analysis
• Strong negotiation skills
• SAP experience helpful
