Job Description


The Senior Buyer role will be responsible for category or commodity management which includes managing spend categories related to direct materials or services in support of Deluxe Corporation goals and objectives.


This position is responsible for delivering against strategic sourcing initiatives. This position may be responsible for developing and executing buying strategies to reduce costs, reduce lead-times, improve supplier service and assure an effective Source to Pay process. This individual may be charged with leading cross-functional teams in the development and execution of their commodity strategies. This position will manage the flow of communication from the Sites, Supply Mgmt and other appropriate Deluxe areas.
This position will be responsible for delivering the best total cost derived from a best in class supply base and ensure that the overall quality goals of the company are achieved.

Accountabilities:

Assist Strategic Sourcing Manager in the development and implementation of the sourcing strategy for specified sub-category or sub-categories.

Manage relationships with suppliers for specified sub-category.

Recognize and appropriately act upon supplier development opportunities.

Lead supplier qualification and measurement for sub-category.

Analyze performance metrics.

Create, distribute and summarize customer satisfaction survey results.

Contribute to data collection and analysis for category.

Manage Requests for Information (RFI) with potential suppliers.

Structure the Request for Proposals (RFP) and assess results.

Determine the process for communicating RFP; communicate RFP results to suppliers and interested parties.

Build a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)/ supplier ranking matrix.

Lead development of fact-based briefs for supplier meetings.

Negotiate, implement and manage contracts.

Assess and encourage supplier diversity opportunities.
 

Required
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors or equivalent in Business or Engineering

5-7 years professional experience, including 2-3 years of sourcing experience.

C.P.M. or Equivalent preferred

ISM affiliation preferred
