Job Description:
Achieves continual improvement in product and supplied material quality,
delivery, and cost.
Works with assigned suppliers externally and with Product Development,
Purchasing, and other associated functions internally.
Applies appropriate techniques to improve supplier capacity, performance,
and technology.
Areas of focus include new product initiatives, capacity expansion
projects, cost reduction initiatives, best practices, standardization, and
utilization of existing assets.
Individual will play a key role in setting divisional strategy to ensure
cost-efficient flow of materials within the company, and is responsible for
meeting future development requirements.
Active participation with Product Development team members to ensure
compliance to specification and supplier process capability.
Collaborate with product design functions to identify and document
critical part and product characteristics and quality requirements.
Team with Product management and Design Engineering groups across the
company to support the effective launch of new products.
Facilitate complete supplier understanding of design and quality
requirements by leading detailed and systematic specification reviews.
Establish relationships with key Engineering, Operations, and Product
Management individuals to enable expedient review and approval of First
Article samples and Material Evaluation Requests.
Use Advanced Quality Planning tools to ensure that supplier processes are
capable and will consistently meet established requirements with high
statistical confidence.
Assist suppliers in the planning and completion of process / test system
qualification and validation.
Evaluate and approves supplier production readiness.
Prepare, interpret, and present key quality metrics to commodity team and
management team members.
Play a key role in the planning and documentation of supplier management
activities through supplier reviews.
Support the development and execution of commodity strategies.
Drive implementation of engineering cost savings projects.
Obtain and communicate supplier process capabilities, limitations, and
design guidelines to internal stakeholders.
Support the development of standardized engineering work systems and
processes to provide common tools for project management, and project
documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or
Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years experience in Quality Engineering
6 months experience with the Harris First Article Process
