Indirect Commodity Specialist

The main role of this position will be to focus on Quoting, Project Management, Negotiating Cost Savings and Buying activities within the Indirect Procurement Team.

This position will lead / participate in coordination of the Commodity Management activities required to support Mercury’s Indirect Procurement purchasing requirements. Position is clearly intended to be a developmental position for an individual aspiring to, and requiring only minimal development in order to assume, the position of Commodity Manager, either for the person's assigned commodity or any other (Direct or Indirect).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Project Management
• Using On-Line Quoting Tool, Quote Capital Requirements
• Project Purchasing
• Contract Negotiations
• Negotiate Year-Over-Year Cost Reduction Savings
• Commodity Strategy Development / Communication / Leadership
Job Requirements: Basic Qualifications:
• BS/BA in Business (or related field) and minimum of three years experience in purchasing or a related field
• MS Office: Computer proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, Power Point, Project and Excel
• RFQ Issue RFQ's and analyze quotations for existing/new components from current/new suppliers in line with the sourcing strategy and commodity manager's direction. Support issuance of RFQ's and analysis of quotations for new components or from new suppliers in line with the sourcing strategy and commodity manager's direction. Issue purchase orders where required
• PPV Lead/support activities related to forecasting, tracking, and reporting PPV
• Support activities related to annual savings goals
• Provide accurate cost target for new product
• Demonstrated project management participation and leadership
• Demonstrated history of obtaining year-over-year cost savings
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, cost management and writing skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
• Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Conflict resolution and handle difficult situations in a professional manner
• Prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time

Preferred Qualifications:
• Indirect procurement experience
• Capital purchase experience
• Lead/participate in activities required to make capital purchase decisions.
• History of actively participating in a Commodity Team environment (internal and supplier support).
• History of supporting warranty recovery and supplier charge backs
• Participate / lead project management activities as required to support the Team.
• Specific understanding of manufacturing/quality/capital purchase requirements
• C.P.M. Certification desired
• CPIM Certification desired
• Working knowledge of Oracle
