Overview:
This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating (as needed)
all purchasing functions relating to a major commodity or operating groups,
special departments, and technology departments. ensures that such functions
are supportive of assigned organization's objectives. Responsible for
developing a supplier base that will provide Tyco Electronics Energy and
Telecom business within Americas with price, quality and delivery for goods
and services needed. This role will participate with other senior managers
to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on
administration of operational matters and ensures operation's effective
achievement of objectives.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
The selected candidate will perform / supervise supplier evaluations,
including inspection plan development, monitoring supplier quality,
delivery, and conformance to requirements; develops corrective action plans
as needed based on evaluation result. This individual will facilitate
development of strategy and identify risk and opportunities within scope;
may include development of supply base for new products. Other
responsibilities will include managing implementation of strategies within
scope, managing multiple commodities. Responsible for meeting savings
targets for assigned areas. Lead small projects within assigned commodities
or business unit. Lead larger project teams, may beS cross-functional,
within assigned commodities or business. The selected candidate will need to
take ownership and create resolution to meet requirements with little or no
Manager involvement, as well as negotiate total cost of ownership.
Key Challenges:
Co-develop, support, drive and implement business and commodity strategies
throughout the procurement organization as directed by business unit
leadership
Support High level executive reporting
Support High level contract development
Support implementation of Corporate KPI's (Key Performance Indicators i.e
Quality, Cost, Delivery, Payment terms, etc.)
Support department managers and department functional teams in the execution
of strategies
Support development of risk mitigation initiatives
Support Employee development
Qualifications
BA/BS and 8 years minimum work experience or MA/MS and 5 years minimum work
experience needed. I.S.M/A.P.I.C.S certification needed. Individual must
have computer proficiency with MS Office Products, as well as SAP/POLIS,
Star Tec/Matrix or other Engineering Change Systems, Cognos Impromptu,
Cognos IWR reports, Cognos Power Play Cubes.
Individual needs to be action-oriented, customer focused, organized with
strong negotiation, planning, and communication skills. The desired
candidate should possess the ability to draft standard RFQ/RFI and
E-procurement technology with requirements and ability to analyze suppliers'
response. Basic knowledge of contract language associated with material lead
time, MOQ, pack quantity and price is needed. Advanced knowledge of material
stocking agreements and liability and understanding of standard terms and
conditions along with understanding of impact of suppliers' proposed
deviations to our standard terms and conditions, recommend responses and/or
action plans. Thorough understanding of supplier evaluation and approval
process is required.
