Title: Commodity Manager


Summary: Responsible for overseeing all activities within the purchasing department including supplier development, RFP/RFQ process, contract negotiations inventory levels and turns, achieve cost reductions targets, effective internal auditing processes, supplier management and knowledge of systems and continuous improvement initiatives. Purchase parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. Purchase raw or semi-finished materials for manufacturing. Key metrics include supplier delivery performance, supplier quality PPM, material variance to budget and cost improvement project.

Responsibilities:
1. Lead purchasing team in all responsibilities supporting parts supply.
2. Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
3. Manage material flow to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
4. Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
5. Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
6. Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
7. Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
8. Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
9. Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
10. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes
